Watch: Kate Garraway feels physically sick at prospect of Christmas without her husband
Kate Garraway has said she feels “physically sick” at the thought of Christmas without her husband Derek Draper, who is still in hospital amid his coronavirus battle.
Draper, the TV presenter’s husband of 15 years, fell ill in March and has remained in hospital since then.
With the festive season just around the corner, Garraway said she has started to feel “panic” at the idea of her and the couple’s two children Darcey and Billy spending it alone, without being able to see him or possibly even relatives, depending on what the pandemic restrictions could be.
She told her Good Morning Britain co-host Ben Shephard: "I feel physically sick actually.
“I can sort of feel my chest tightening at the thought of it, and the total panic about the idea of Darcey, Bill and myself on our own at Christmas unable to visit Derek because of potentially restrictions, and that huge emotional hole.
“I don't know how to fill it. Without grandparents, without friends helping to fill it.
“It feels like such a significant moment."
She went on: “On the same token, I think, well we are in this situation because of the spread of a disease which at the moment doesn’t have a cure.”
Garraway regularly updates viewers of the ITV show on Draper’s progress and recently revealed that he still goes through some “worrying downs”.

She told fellow presenter Susanna Reid: "The problem is, I feel like I'm just boring everyone to death really because it ends up with the same thing, which is stable but actually in between when I’m not talking to you there are big ups and big downs.
“Not big ups really, small improvements and worrying downs as well.”
