Kate Hudson has no regrets over divisive 2001 Oscars gown

Kate Hudson has no regrets about wearing a striking silver gown to the 2001 Academy Awards.

The Fool's Gold actress always pulls out all the stops when it comes to her red-carpet attire, often landing on the Best Dressed lists.

But in a recent interview for People magazine, Kate recalled her surprise at the way her sheer silver Stella McCartney dress with cap sleeves and her very curly hairstyle received a less than positive reaction from the fashion crowd at the ceremony, where she was nominated for her performance as Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous.

"The dress was amazing. My hair is naturally actually really curly. We accentuated the curl and put it up, and everyone was like, 'This is a disaster,'" she remembered. "And they were like, 'What is she wearing? A lampshade?' Meanwhile, then the caplets became trendy. But I look back on that and I'm like, 'Oh, I think it's actually cool.'"

And while Kate has been able to keep many of her favourite Hollywood looks from over the course of her career, in an interview with Elle magazine, she revealed that she has no idea what happened to the iconic canary yellow silk gown that she wore in a pivotal scene in 2003 romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

"You know what? I have no idea where that dress is! I know it was Carolina Herrera and our amazing costume designer designed the dress with Carolina's team. I do not know where it is, but I feel like we should find it!" the 41-year-old confessed to the publication.
