Katy Perry falls to floor and flashes crotch as she attempts to twerk in awkward American Idol audition

Katy Perry was left red-faced after she crashed an American Idol audition, fell to the floor and flashed her crotch.

The US pop superstar, 33, caused chaos as she jumped up from the judging panel to join in with a singing hopeful as the reality TV show returned to screens.

Contestant Michelle Sussett invited Perry to dance with her to her rendition of Techno Cumbia by 90s star Selena.

Perry mimicked the 22-year-old waitress as she dropped to the floor – but her second attempt saw her buckle on her heel and fall flat on her behind.

In a bid to style out the bad move, Perry sprawled out on the floor and threw her hands in the air – but failed to realise she was flashing the cameras.

Fellow judge Lionel Richie awkwardly tried to hide her modesty while helping her to her feet as Luke Bryan fell to the floor laughing.

Bryan finally lifted her up as Richie stood in front the cameras, asking: “Great, you covered? Some things you have to do for the business! It's a tough job but somebody's got to do it.”

Bryan quipped: “There are some things a man can’t unsee!”

Brushing off the embarassment Perry joked: “Listen, I'm the best dancer.”

It comes days after Perry fell victim to another onscreen gaffe when she was surprised by an old school friend – but awkwardly forgot her name.

Playing Blast from the Past on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Perry was shown six faces and asked to guess which ones she knew.

Pointing at one woman she shouted: “Oh my God, stop I know who this is! Erica!”

‘Erica’ awkwardly corrected her, saying: “Ahnika, yeah.”

The Roar singer attempted to rectify the situation continuing: “We were really good friends Ahnika. What an incredibly beautiful woman you’ve grown into.”
