Katy Perry is apparently keen to play the girlfriend of late Queen star Freddie Mercury in a new movie.
The Firework singer - whose film credits include The Smurfs and Out In The Desert - is a contender for the part of Mary Austin, who dated the rocker for several years in the 70s.
According to the Daily Mirror, Sacha Baron Cohen will star as the Bohemian Rhapsody singer, who died of an Aids-related illness in 1991.
A friend said 27-year-old Katy - who has previously referred to Mercury as her idol - "would love to be in the film as she is such a huge fan".
The source added: "She would want to play Mary Austin ideally. Katy has a similar look to Mary and would be a brilliant foil to Sacha."
The film, which will focus on Mercury's rise to fame, is expected to start shooting next year and it has been reported that Stephen Frears is set to direct.
Meanwhile, Katy is rumoured to be stepping out with Florence And The Machine's Rob Ackroyd after they were snapped leaving a party together at the weekend.
Katy - who split from Russell Brand last year after 14 months of marriage - was first linked to Rob in March when they attended the Coachella festival in the US.
