Ken Loach's I, Daniel Blake leads BIFA nominations

Ken Loach’s searing social drama ‘I, Daniel Blake’, has cleaned up in the nominations for this year’s British Independent Film Awards.

It’s topped the list with seven nominations in all, including Best British Independent Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.

Stars Dave Johns and Hayley Squires also received nominations in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories.

Andrea Arnold’s ‘American Honey’, starring Shia LaBeouf, has also been nominated in the Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Actress categories.

The recipient of this year’s Richard Harris Award, given for outstanding contribution to the British film industry, will be announced later this month. Past winners have included Kenneth Branagh, Sir Michael Caine, and Dame Helen Mirren.

The ceremony will take place on December 4 at Old Billingsgate Market in London.
