Robin Hood might have been the ‘prince of thieves’, but it sounds like he was also king of the psychedelics.

Kevin Costner, star of the early 90s blockbuster, has spoken about the time that he went off in search of magic mushrooms with one of the movie’s stunt men while filming.

He dropped the trippy bombshell during an interview on The Rich Eisen Show yesterday.

It was the day of one of the sword fights, and the nameless stunt man, who Costner had become chummy with, suggested a wander out into the fields after lunch.

“We went out to this field, and he’s telling me what they look like. I’m dressed up like Robin, and he’s dressed up like a guy I’m beating up, and he finds one. Then he finds another. I can’t find any.

“After a few more, I say ‘hey man, how come you’re seeing them’, and he says ‘well, you have a mushroom, and they tell you where to find the others’.”

It was at this point that Costner remembered the pair were to film a sword fight the same afternoon, so the hunt was – perhaps wisely – postponed.

But it was resumed later, upon which Costner’s hunt was more fruitful, he admits with a grin.

It’s the second tale of Hollywood folk getting high this week, after Andrew Garfield revealed he once went to Disneyland off his chump on hash brownies for his 29th birthday with friends, including Emma Stone.

“I was with eight of my closest friends,” Garfield told W Magazine.

“They came out to L.A. to surprise me. We went to Disneyland and we ate pot brownies. It was literally heaven. How about Space Mountain three times in a row? I freaked out on It’s a Small World. I was like … ‘It is a f***ing small world.’”
