Kevin Hart has broken his silence on the car crash that almost claimed his life and left him with a broken back.

The Jumanji star was a passenger in his vintage muscle car when it left the road on the treacherous Mullholland Highway in September.

Since then, the actor has undergone extensive rehabilitation, and has now released a video of his journey to recovery on his Instagram page.

“Basically what you realise is that you’re not in control,” he says in the video's voice-over.

“No matter how much you think you’re in control, you’re not in control. At the end of the day, it can all be over, man.”

“When God talks, you got to listen. I swear, life is funny because some of the craziest things that happen to you end up being the things you needed most.

“After my accident, I see things differently. I see life from a whole new perspective and my appreciation for life is through the roof.”

Hart underwent emergency surgery on his back following the crash, which also saw his wife's personal trainer and her boyfriend - who was driving – cut from the car by the emergency services.
