Kevin Smith Loved Captain America: Civil War, Compares It To The Dark Knight

When Kevin Smith talks about superhero films, comic book fans listen. The ‘Mallrats’, ‘Chasing Amy’ and ‘Clerks’ director’s oeuvre is packed with references to the genre, and he’s built a podcast empire on discussing his thoughts on the subject.

So it was always going to be interesting to hear what Smith had to say about Marvel’s latest outing, ‘Captain America: Civil War’. And, like most critics, Smith absolutely adored the blockbuster, even comparing it to Christopher Nolan’s 2008 masterpiece ‘The Dark Knight’.

Kevin Smith made this revelation on his Fat Man On Batman podcast, during which his discussed ‘Captain America: Civil War’ with his co-host Marc Bernardin.

“I put this movie shoulder to shoulder with ‘The Dark Knight’,” Smith insisted. “That’s high praise. I thought ‘The Dark Knight’ was – at the time I believe I said that ‘The Godfather 2′ of comic book movies.”

But Smith wasn’t done, as he insisted that everyone over at team Marvel did a stunning job assembling ‘Civil War’. He continued, “It’s insanely well done and it’s an empire built movie. You can’t get there without 10 or 12 movies prior to it, which they’ve done expertly over at Marvel.”

This isn’t the first time that Kevin Smith has heaped praise onto ‘Captain America: Civil War’, as he took to Twitter after originally watching it to call it, “Easily the greatest comic book movie ever made! Best Spidey flick too!”

Clearly a lot of people agree with Kevin Smith, too. Because ‘Captain America: Civil War’ has been met with critical acclaim by fans and critics alike, and it’s the ultimate proof that Marvel are still the kings of the comic-book genre.
