Kevin Spacey questioned by Scotland Yard officers in US

Actor Kevin Spacey has been questioned by Scotland Yard detectives about sex assault allegations in the UK.

The officers travelled to the US to interview the Oscar-winning star, 59, under caution.

The Hollywood actor faces six allegations of sexual assault in the UK between 1996 and 2013.

Spacey was voluntarily interviewed under caution – he was not arrested – in May.

While the Metropolitan Police did not name the individual, a spokeswoman said: “In May 2019, a man was voluntarily interviewed under caution in America, by officers from the Met’s Complex Case Team.

“He was not arrested. Inquiries are ongoing.”

The news was first reported by US website Variety.

Spacey was artistic director at London’s The Old Vic theatre between 2004 and 2015.

He was one of the first Hollywood stars to face allegations in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

Anthony Rapp alleged he was 14 when Spacey, then 26, made a sexual advance to him in 1986.

Spacey said he did not remember the alleged encounter but apologised for any “inappropriate drunken behaviour”.

The star was sacked by Netflix’s House Of Cards and Sir Ridley Scott erased him from his completed film All The Money In The World in re-shoots costing millions.

The Old Vic theatre found 20 people claimed they had been subjected to inappropriate behaviour from the actor.

In the US, a young man who says Spacey groped him in a Nantucket bar in 2016 dropped his lawsuit against the Usual Suspects star.

Spacey still faces a criminal charge in the US and pleaded not guilty to indecent assault and battery in January.
