Kick-Ass star Aaron for Godzilla?

11 January 2013

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has apparently been offered the lead role in the new Godzilla remake.

The Kick-Ass star is said to be the frontrunner to play the hero in Legendary Pictures' new franchise about the iconic giant lizard, directed by Monsters' Gareth Edwards.

Deadline reports that budding young British actor Aaron will wait until he sees the final draft of the screenplay by The Shawshank Redemption's Frank Darabont, which he is adapting from the original script written by Max Borenstein for the project.

Details of the story reboot are being kept top secret but movie blog claims it will follow the story of a soldier, so this could be the role Aaron is in line for.

CHUD also claims the film will feature two monsters wreaking havoc.

Aaron had his big break in John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy and has since starred in Oliver Stone's Savages, Anna Karenina and is currently filming Kick-Ass 2.

Godzilla has had several reincarnations on screen since the original Japanese film in 1954, but if Aaron lands the starring role, he will appear in several films about the monster lizard.
