Kiefer Sutherland Joins Ellen Page In Flatliners Remake

Supernatural thriller ‘Flatliners’ is getting done over again, with its original star in tow.

Deadline report that Kiefer Sutherland, who played the lead in the 1990 movie which reunited him with 'The Lost Boys’ director Joel Schumacher, has signed on to appear alongside Ellen Page in the remake - though unsurprisingly he will not be reprising the same role.

The film centres on a quintet of ambitious medical students experimenting with near death experiences, in a bid to discover the truth about life after death.

However, while 'dead’ the young adults experience visions of things they have done wrong in their lives, compelling them to make amends.

The original film cast Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt and William Baldwin as the students.

This time around, the experimenters will be Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton and Kiersey Clemens - whilst the now 49-year old Sutherland will portray “a seasoned doctor.”

Niels Arden Oplev, director of the original 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,’ will be calling the shots on the remake, working from a script by 'Source Code’ scribe Ben Ripley.

The new 'Flatliners’ will reportedly go into production this week in Toronto, Canada, and is expected to hit screens at some point in 2017.
