Killing Eve star Gemma Whelan is set to front ITV's upcoming crime thriller The Tower.

The British actress, who has also appeared in Gentleman Jack, White House Farm, The End of the F***ing World and Game of Thrones, is on board to play Sarah Collins in the three-part series, a detective sergeant who is tasked with finding a missing rookie police officer named Lizzie Griffiths.

It's believed that Lizzie, along with a 4-year-old boy, witnessed the deaths of a veteran beat cop and a teenage girl who had fallen off of a block of flats in South-East London and Sarah must get to the bottom of it all.

Homeland writer Patrick Harbinson has adapted the show from former Met Police officer Kate London's 2015 book Post Mortem.

Mammoth Screen's founder and CEO Damien Timmer (The Serpent, Endeavour) and Karen Thrussell (Poldark, And Then There Were None) will executive produce alongside him, while Save Me Too's Jim Loach is lined up as director.
