The actress will voice the role of a dragon called Mistral in the new book adaptation, appearing alongside Crazy Rich Asians stars Henry Golding and Michelle Yeoh (via The Hollywood Reporter).
The story tells the tale of a boy in San Francisco who meets a shape-shifting tiger called Mr Hu (Golding), and is introduced to a magical world that includes a dragon, a phoenix and a clan of evil-doers.
Based off of the 2003 book by Lawrence Yep, the voice cast also includes Brandon Soo Hoo (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series), Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live), Sherry Cola (Good Trouble), and Kheng Hua Tan (Magnum PI).
The Tiger's Apprentice will mark the feature directing debut of animator Carlos Baena (Toy Story 3), while the script is being worked on by Davig Magee (Life of Pi), Harry Cripps and Kyle Jarrow.
This isn't the only animated project in the pipeline for Oh, with the actress also lending her voice talents to Netflix movie Over the Moon.
The film, which is rooted in East Asian culture, follows a girl named Fei Fei (Cathy Ang), who builds a rocket ship to the moon to prove that the legendary Moon Goddess exists, though discovers a land of fantastical creatures.
Oh voices her stepmother, Mrs Zhong, while John Cho and Ruthie Ann Miles play Fei Fei's parents. Phillipa Soo, Robert G Chiu, Ken Jeong, Margaret Cho, Kimiko Glenn, and Artt Butler also star.
The Tiger's Apprentice will be released on February 10, 2023.
