Kim Cattrall slams 'bullying' over her refusal to do another 'Sex and the City' film

Sex and the City fans holding out hope for another sequel need not bother — at least as far as Kim Cattrall is concerned.

The Canadian actress, best known for playing saucy PR maven Samantha Jones in the HBO series and the two films that followed, has once again kiboshed any possibility of suiting up in her stilettos one more time.

Cattrall famously fell out with former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker over pressure to resume the role of Samantha for a third movie. The bad blood took a personal turn after the 2018 death by suicide of Cattrall’s brother, Chris, with the grieving actress accusing Parker of “exploiting our tragedy” by leaving messages of condolences on Instagram.

Speaking to the Guardian, the 62-year-old Cattrall reiterated that she’s “had enough” of playing Samantha and called out the “bullying” she says she’s received over refusing to take part in a sequel.

“I went past the finish line playing Samantha Jones because I loved Sex and the City ,’ the star said. “It was a blessing in so many ways but after the second movie I’d had enough. I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t just replace me with another actress instead of wasting time bullying. No means no.”

The actress, whose credits also include Mannequin and Police Academy, also spoke out against sexism in Hollywood.

”People have said really unspeakable things to me,” she shared. “A director once told me years after being dropped suddenly from a TV pilot that it was because I didn’t give the network boss a h***-on!”

She also called out famed filmmaker Otto Preminger, who “wasn’t very sensitive” when he directed her in 1975’s Rosebud, her first film.

“I was 17 and he said I reminded him of Marilyn Monroe … for her lack of talent rather than her looks,” she said. “I literally ran from that experience.”
