These amusing first look photos were revealed in celebration of the 25th anniversary of ‘Kindergarten Cop’, and depict Dolph Lundgren taking over the reins from the original Detective John Kimble – Arnold Schwarzenegger.

But can Dolph Lundgren really pull this off?

It’s certainly a tough act to follow. After all, while ‘Kindergarten Cop’ isn’t exactly one of Schwarzenegger’s most celebrated films, it was still one of his most successful comedies.

The original ‘Kindergarten Cop’ follows Detective Kimble as he goes undercover at a local preschool in order to learn the whereabouts of fugitive drug dealer, Cullen Crisp (played by Richard Tyson).

But the upcoming sequel takes things in a slightly more modern direction.

This time around, Dolph Lundgren is on the case as FBI Agent Reed who has been tasked with locating a batch of missing (and rather sensitive) data. Contained on a flash drive which went missing from the FBI’s Witness Relocation Program, the data is Agent Reed’s top priority… but you can expect the usual bunch of unruly kids to get in his way.

Except this time, it’s more than just kid trouble, as Reed faces problems with the school’s ‘politically correct environment’.

Whatever that means.

Of course, the usual hilarity ensues as Agent Reed struggles to get to grips with his class of five-year-olds… and this seems to be the big selling point of the sequel, with most of these first look images depicting Dolph Lundgren in the various stages of a nervous breakdown.

Essentially, it looks as though ‘Kindergarten Cop 2’ is hoping to hook in fans of the original… and judging from these first images, we can expect much of the same comedy beats as seen in the old ‘90s classic.

But is that really enough? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘Kindergarten Cop 2’ heads straight to DVD and Blu-ray in 2016.
