Matthew Vaughn is seemingly determined to make Kingsman the next major cinematic universe, starting with a spin-off prequel movie.

In June 2018, Vaughn confirmed plans to shoot Kingsman 3 – which will be "the conclusion of the Harry Hart-Eggsy relationship" – back-to-back with the prequel, but not only that, he's also plotting a movie based on Statesman, the American organisation introduced in Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Oh, and there's an eight-hour TV show planned too, if three movies aren't enough Kingsman for you.

It was originally thought that the prequel would be called Kingsman: The Great Game, but it's now been officially called The King's Man, with the movie set to "go back to where it all began".

Here's everything we know so far.

The King's Man trailer: When can we expect it?

The first trailer for the Kingsman prequel landed on July 15, seemingly offering a more serious edge to the OTT action franchise.

And it seems the Kingsman organisation didn't necessarily start with good, noble men, according to Ralph Fiennes's character: "Throughout time, our people robbed, lied and killed until one day, we found ourselves noblemen.

"But that nobility never came from chivalry, it came from being tough and ruthless. Real power is not found running off to war. Real power lies in understanding who it is you're truly fighting... and how they can be defeated."

The King's Man release date: When's it coming?

Originally, the spin-off movie was set to land on November 8, 2019 in the UK and US, before it was pushed back to February 14, 2020.

The movie started filming in February 2019 in the UK and Italy.

Vaughn is apparently still planning to shoot the movies back-to-back with Kingsman 3 set to start production "later this year or the beginning of next year". So there's a chance that we could get Kingsman 3 towards the end of 2020, but it's more likely 2021 now.

The King's Man cast: Who's in it?

The impressive cast for the prequel was confirmed when filming started, with the cast led by Ralph Fiennes and Trust star Harris Dickinson as a Kingsman agent and a British teen called Conrad, respectively.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Charles Dance, Stanley Tucci, Daniel Bruhl, Tom Hollander, Robert Aramayo and Djimon Hounsou are also among the cast.

We don't yet know which characters they will be playing in the movie.

Given when it's set, we can't expect to see any of the established Kingsman cast like Colin Firth and Mark Strong, unless the prequel spin-off has any scenes set in the present day, potentially as a set-up to Kingsman 3.

The King's Man plot: What's it about?

The spin-off movie is set in the early 1900s and explores the origins of the Kingsman organisation, way before the likes of Harry Hart and Eggsy got involved.

Much like the first movie, we can expect to see an established Kingsman agent take someone under his wing and train them in the ways of the organisation. "His idea for the new one is incredibly exciting," enthused Egerton.

And we got the first official synopsis when the trailer landed, although there's not too much else we can gather from it:

"As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them. Discover the origins of the very first independent intelligence agency."

The King's Man will be released in cinemas on February 14, 2020.
