Kiss of the Spider Woman world premiere

Kiss of the Spider Woman had its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival on Sunday, 26 January, the film received a great response from viewers and critics alike.

The crowd were said to burst into spontaneous applause during the screening of the musical, which is based on the 1993 Tony-award-winning production of the same name. After the film was finished the cast were given a standing ovation, with Jennifer Lopez growing teary-eyed as she expressed how much it meant to her to appear in the movie.

Kiss of the Spider Woman follows two prisoners in 1980s Argentina, Luis Molina (Tonatiuh) and Valentin Arregui (Diego Luna). Molina is obsessed with musicals and Hollywood glamour, and he tells Valentin of his favourite diva Ingrid Luna (Lopez) and his favourite musical of hers: Kiss of the Spider Woman. The story juxtaposes the technicolour beauty of MGM musicals with the dark experience they share in prison.
