It's been a special few days for Princess Diana's niece, Lady Kitty Spencer, who wed fashion mogul, Michael Lewis, in a luxury Italian ceremony on Saturday. It's believed that ahead of their extravagant nuptials, the couple first met back in 2018 and are thought to have gotten engaged over the Christmas period of 2019. Now, their big day is complete and royal fans have noticed it featured a particular break with tradition.
For her special day Kitty wore not one, but five bespoke Dolce & Gabbana dresses, which makes sense as the model has long been an ambassador for (and worked with) the brand.
The design house sharing a look of all of the gowns - and the creation process - on their Instagram. "A glimpse at the #AltaModa gowns created exclusively by Dolce and Gabbana for @kitty.spencer on the most important day of her life," the caption, accompanying a video of Kitty in the five different dresses, read. "The looks include a Victorian inspiration lace bridal gown."
Kitty herself has shared snaps from the day, speaking about how much she loved her dress.
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart Domenico & Stefano for creating a gown beyond my wildest dreams for the most important day of my life. There are no words that could ever express my gratitude," she wrote.
In the pictures, Kitty's hair is sleek and swept back in an elegant up-do with her long, luxurious veil pinned in carefully. She decided not to wear the Spencer family tiara, most famously worn by her late aunt, Princess Diana, at her wedding to Prince Charles.
The diamond-encrusted Spencer Tiara was reportedly made in the 1930s and given as a wedding gift to Diana’s grandmother Lady Cynthia Hamilton.
Since then, the gorgeous accessory has featured in many Spencer weddings. Diana's mother and two elder sisters Lady Sarah Spencer and Lady Jane Spencer also wore the family heirloom on their own special days, while Kitty's mum Victoria chose to do the same when she married Charles Spencer.
While Kitty's reason for breaking with family tradition in not wearing the tiara to walk down the aisle is unknown, one thing's for sure - she made a beautiful bride with some incredible wedding looks.
And the most important thing, of course? Kitty is enjoying the blissful post-wedding period and enjoying having tied the knot with new husband, Michael. She took to Instagram to share a picture with her spouse, along with a caption in Italian meaning he's her forever love.
