Kong: Skull Island Adds Jason Mitchell

‘Straight Outta Compton’ star Jason Mitchell is heading to Skull Island… as he lands a role in the upcoming ‘Kong: Skull Island’.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 27-year-old actor has been approached for the upcoming monster movie.

“Jason Mitchell, the young actor making a breakout with his portrayal of rapper Eazy-E in Straight Outta Compton, is in negotiations to join the cast of Legendary’s Kong: Skull Island.”

Although ‘Straight Outta Compton’ is Mitchell’s breakout role, he has appeared in other minor roles over the last few years – most notably appearing alongside Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe in the noir thriller, ‘Broken City’.

“Mitchell is currently shooting Keanu, the New Line comedy from Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, and will be seen in the indie Vincent-N-Roxxy with Emile Hirsch and Zoe Kravitz.”

But who will he be playing in ‘Skull Island’?

“Insiders say that Mitchell will play an easy going pilot,” they explain. “The move will reunite him with Corey Hawkins, his Compton co-star (he played Dr. Dre) who is already cast in the monster movie.”

Unfortunately, that’s about all we know for the time being… but it looks as though he’s in good company.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts is set to direct ‘Kong: Skull Island’ which recently brought screenwriter Derek Connolly on board before production begins in Hawaii by late-October.

Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson are already confirmed for ‘Skull Island’ with Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly reportedly circling unknown roles.

‘Kong: Skull Island’ heads to cinemas on 10 March 2017.
