Léa Seydoux Offered Female Lead In Gambit

It looks as though Channing Tatum’s ‘Gambit’ has finally found his beau… as Léa Seydoux lands an offer to star in the upcoming ‘X-Men’ spin-off.

According to Deadline, the 30-year-old actress has been offered the female lead in the ‘Gambit’ solo movie.

“Lea Seydoux has the offer to star alongside Channing Tatum in Fox’s Rupert Wyatt-directed X-Men spinoff Gambit,” they revealed. “This was a hotly contested job for the role of Bella Donna Boudreaux.”

Of course, the role of Bella Donna has been rumoured for some time, with the likes of Rebecca Ferguson and Abbey Lee up for the part. But it looks as though Léa Seydoux has managed to clinch it.

“They were set to test,” they explained, “and then Ferguson dropped out to take one of the leads in DreamWorks’ adaptation of The Girl On The Train. Now, the role in Gambit will go to Seydoux, who moved from the racy Cannes sensation Blue Is The Warmest Color to the 007 film Spectre.”

But who is Bella Donna Boudreaux?

Appearing in the ‘X-Men’ comic books, Bella Donna was essentially Gambit’s first love, long before he met Rogue. Having met when they were just children, Bella and Gambit have a rather long history… both hailing from rival guilds.

We eventually saw Bella Donna rise through the ranks and become leader of the Assassins Guild… and she even developed her own psychic superpowers.

But is this the version we’ll see in the ‘Gambit’ solo movie?

Although it’s likely that Bella Donna’s powers will play a big part in the movie, I can’t help wondering whether the pair’s history will be explored, or whether Boudreaux will appear as a mystery female.

Either way, it looks as though ‘Gambit’ is shaping up rather nicely… and we can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

‘Gambit’ heads to cinemas on 7 October 2016.
