Layton Williams got scolded for skimpy rehearsal outfits on Strictly Come Dancing
Layton Williams keeps getting scolded for skimpy rehearsal outfits on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former ‘Bad Education’ star admitted that production keeps complaining to him about his “comfortable” attire while he practises for the dancefloor on the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition with his partner Nikita Kuzmin, 25, after his recent Viennese waltz performance in drag as ‘Grease’ character Betty Rizzo.
The 29-year-old actor told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I keep getting told by the camera crew to wear more clothes.
“In the training room, they’re like: ‘We’re seeing a lot of things.’ But this is how I feel comfortable. I’ve got my jock strap on, it’s the BBC. But everything is nice and tight and together.”
Layton - who made his West End debut as a child in the title role of 'Billy Elliot: The Musical' - recently confessed he was “having the best time” competing alongside many famous faces like broadcaster Angela Rippon, 78, ‘Channel 4 News’ anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy, 53, and former ‘Love Island’ star Zara McDermott, 26.
He continued to OK! magazine: "I'm actually enjoying it. Like genuinely just having fun. It's just a vibe isn't it? So [I'm] enjoying it, thinking about the bigger picture, and just keeping it moving."
When he was asked about the criticism about his previous dance training, Layton responded that he was concentrating on the “young queens” as opposed to the bad vibes.
Nikita has defended the ex ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’ stage star as he pointed out that his ‘Strictly’ routines were “completely different” to anything he had done previously.
He said to the Daily Mirror: "Ballroom and Latin are completely different to anything Layton has done so far, the technique, posture and especially to coordination is completely different; he has a lot to learn and I can’t wait to teach him."
Layton added: "He is going to whip me into shape, and keep me on the straight and narrow because I do like to think I know what I am doing and do the most, but I really don’t have a clue!"
