'Star Wars': LEGO announces most expensive set ever

Watch: Take a closer look at the new Lego AT-AT

LEGO has announced its biggest and most expensive set ever, with the new Ultimate Collector Series Star Wars AT-AT clocking in at £749.99.

That's £100 more than the previous record holder, 2018's Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon, which retails for £649.

Like the other builds in LEGO's UCS range, the new AT-AT (All Terrain Armoured Transport) — which first appeared in 1980's Star Wars: Episode IV - The Empire Strikes Back — is incredibly detailed and is comprised of 6,785 bricks.

Designed by legendary LEGO Design Master Henrik Andersen, the man behind the UCS X-Wing and UCS TIE Interceptor, the AT-AT stands at over two-feet tall and can house 40 minifigure Stormtroopers within its hold.

Andersen said, “The mega-sized LEGO Star Wars AT-AT set is the one everyone has been waiting for, and it’s been a thrill to bring this highly-anticipated build to life.

The AT-ATs were first deployed at the start of Empire Strikes Back during the Imperial attack on the Rebel's hidden base on Hoth. They also appeared in 1983's Return of the Jedi, and Daisy Ridley's Rey made her home in a ruined AT-AT in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
