Lego Reveal Ghostbusters Firehouse Set - Outside The Real Firehouse

What self-respecting Lego collector wouldn’t want to have in their possession a replica of the firehouse from ‘Ghostbusters?’ And given the chance, could said Lego collector ever find a better place to present that set than outside the real firehouse itself?

Obviously, Lego’s answer to those questions was a resounding, “d’uh!” And so, via Entertainment Weekly, the iconic toy company have presented their take on the headquarters from director Ivan Reitman’s 1984 classic, in the shadow of the actual building, Hook & Ladder 8, in New York City.

Strictly one for the real Lego devotees (be they young or old - but let’s face it, the dads want this more than the kids), this little beauty will retail for the princely sum of £349.99 (roughly £229).

But there’s a lot to it, the full two-storey building comprising of 4,634 Lego pieces, fully detailed both inside and outside, with the Ghostbusters lab, their living quarters, and that containment unit (which you should of course make sure not to switch off…)

On top of which the set features nine Lego minifigures including all the principal cast: Bill Murray’s Venkman, Dan Aykroyd’s Ray, Harold Ramis’ Egon, Ernie Hudson’s Winston, Sigourney Weaver’s Dana Barrett, Rick Moranis’ Louis Tully, and Annie Potts’ Janine.

You also get the Zombie Driver and the Library Ghost. (Though colour us surprised there’s no Slimer.)

The Firehouse set arrives in the wake of the rather smaller Lego Ecto-1 which was launched in summer 2014.

Situated in Tribeca, New York City, Hook & Ladder 8 is a functioning fire station to this day, but also does a roaring trade in Ghostbusters tourism.

The Firehouse Lego set is set to hit shelves in January 2016.
