The rock star opens up about his daughter's loving relationship and impending nuptials
Lenny Kravitz is all about family — and his is about to expand.
The rock star's daughter, actress Zoë Kravitz, 35, is gearing up to walk down the aisle with fellow actor Channing Tatum, 43. In PEOPLE's latest cover story, her dad opens up about what he truly thinks of their match made in Hollywood.
“It feels right,” says Kravitz of the pair. “I like [Channing] very much."
The couple "have something that's naturally special," he continues. But more importantly, "they also do the work. They are dedicated. That's what it's all about. It's beautiful to watch."
Kravitz says their relationship harkens back to that of his grandparents.
"I remember hearing something from my grandmother at a very young age. She said, 'It's not just that I'm in love with your grandfather, I'm dedicated to your grandfather'," he says. "Because sometimes you don't feel that love, right? So then what do you do?"
According to Kravitz, "It has to be something beyond that love, and that is dedication. So that is something that I see that they have. It's wonderful to welcome him to the family."
When it comes to his own love life, Kravitz, who recently earned a lot of new admirers with the sexy music video for his single "TK421" off of upcoming album Blue Electric Light (out May 24), says these days he's focused on the bigger picture.
“I’ve always been a romantic, and you can still be one even if you’re not with somebody,” he says. “It’s how you live your life. I’m in love every day. When I wake up, open my eyes and can function . . . love is all around at all times.”
