Leonardo DiCaprio To Star In The Revenant

Leonardo DiCaprio To Star In The Revenant

Leonardo DiCaprio's latest movie role will be as a 19th Century fur trapper who seeks revenge against those who left him for dead after he is mauled by a grizzly bear.

The Hollywood star, recently nominated for his fifth Academy Award, will follow up his heralded performance in the enormously successful The Wolf Of Wall Street with a part in 2015 film The Revenant.

The adventure drama, directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, centres on the 1820s story of a frontiersman Hugh Glass.

The story is based on Michael Punke's story The Revenant: A Novel Of Revenge.

The film, written by Mark Smith and Inarritu, is scheduled to start production this September and is set for release in autumn next year.

No further cast details have been revealed.

Inarritu was nominated for an Oscar for his 2006 drama Babel starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.

His next movie is Birdman, a comedy starring Edward Norton, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts, which is due out in October.
