Black Panther actor Letitia Wright says she doesn’t need to fight for an all-female superhero adventure — because it’s “only a matter of time” before Marvel pulls the trigger on it.

The star, who plays T’Challa’s sister Shuri in the MCU, said fans can expect to see a lot more of her tech genius in the future.

Wright told Yahoo Entertainment that the moment of unity between the studio’s female heroes during the third act of Avengers: Endgame won’t be the last we see of the MCU’s women joining forces.

She said: “I don’t think we have to fight for it. [Executive VP of production] Victoria Alonso is very strong about spearheading it, alongside [Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige]. It’s only a matter of time before they do it.”

Several top MCU stars — including Brie Larson, Elizabeth Olsen and Scarlett Johansson — have spoken of their desire to convince Marvel to pursue an all-female movie.

Wright also revealed her dream line-up for the all-female movie, spotlighting Larson’s Captain Marvel and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, alongside her Black Panther co-stars Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett and Lupita Nyong’o.

The British star spoke of her pride at being able to star in Ryan Coogler’s superhero movie, led by the late Chadwick Boseman, which marched to $1.35bn (£1.04bn) at the global box office.

The 26-year-old said she feels “like I contributed something positive in the world” by being a part of the film.

She added: “It was always a dream of mine to play someone that can be impactful not only for Black women but also just for women around the world and young people, too.

“To be able to have a combination of people and audience members who are so thrilled and appreciative of Shuri is a good feeling.”

The future of the Black Panther franchise is unknown following star Chadwick Boseman’s passing due to cancer earlier this year at the age of 43.

Boseman had been living with colon cancer since 2016, but had chosen to keep his diagnosis private.

Wright was among those to offer a heartfelt tribute to Boseman, sharing a poem on Instagram with her feelings towards her on-screen brother.

“A soul so beautiful, when you walked into a room, there was calm. You always moved with grace and ease,” she said.
