Letter: It's time for a rethink on how we tackle drugs problem in our town

I have had to make numerous complaints regarding drug dealing in my area and I know friends and family have had to do the same living in other areas of Chesterfield.
Police, I hear for the most part, have no time to deal with this dreadful problem so what about a total rethink? Why are more and more people using class A drugs?
Is our education system actually providing information about drug use? I think drug addiction has become so bad throughout Chesterfield that there needs to be a local anti-drugs campaign highlighting the risks, and reinforcing how easy it is to become addicted.
We have the services out there to help people with addictions but prevention is always better than cure. Drug dealers rely on users to make their money, so instead of police always focusing on catching the dealers, surely preventing demand will in turn prevent supply?
