Lex Scott Davis is sharing exclusive details about the Suits spin-off Suits L.A.

PEOPLE caught up with the actress at the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood event on Thursday, where she revealed Suits L.A. begins filming next month.

“There is a pilot script, and that's what we'll be filming in April,” Scott Davis revealed.

"Fingers crossed that the pilot gets a series order," she added. "But, I'm pretty excited. Pretty sure we'll get our series order, for sure."

The show follows Ted Black (Stephen Amell), a former federal prosecutor from New York who “has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles,” per the official logline.

Late last month, the 33-year-old actress was cast in the upcoming legal procedural drama as Erica Rollins, the "savvy and strong-willed rising star who works for Ted Black," per Deadline. The original series, which debuted on Netflix last June, set streaming records four years after its series finale.

“So [Suits] has this resurgence that everyone's excited about. And so, the news about dropping Suits L. A. is just, it's going crazy,” says the actress. “And I love it. It's so much fun. I can't wait to actually get started.”

She also teases that “maybe” there will be “some sort of rollover from the original cast.”

“It's not impossible,” Scott Davis continues. “I would love that myself if there was, but we'll see. You never know.”

The L Word: Generation Q actress also tells PEOPLE how “good” it feels to be part of this production. “It's something I prayed for, it's something I manifested,” shares Davis Scott. "And although it's very much a pinch-me moment, it's also a moment of giving myself a pat on the back.”

Davis Scott explains to PEOPLE that she is “really proud” of her work, noting that women sometimes don't give themselves that type of "praise" or "applause."

“I am proud. I'm able to stand here proudly and say I'm excited that I am filling such big shoes,” says the Ricky Stanicky actress. “But I do know and I'm confident that I can handle it well, and I'll be able to carry the torch well and make, hopefully make the original cast proud.”
