Lizzo: 'Body positivity has been co-opted by all bodies'

Lizzo has expressed her frustration that the body positivity movement "has been co-opted by all bodies".

The Juice hitmaker shared her views on TikTok, as she was replying to a visibly emotional woman who had complained she was unable to "exist" in her body.

"Because now that body positivity has been co-opted by all bodies," Lizzo replied, before going on to explain that the empowering movement is being used by women who it wasn't created for.

"People are finally celebrating medium and small girls and people who occasionally get rolls, (but) fat people are still getting the short end of this movement," she said in the video, which was captioned: "Please use the body positive movement to empower yourself. But we need to protect and uplift the bodies it was created for and by."

The 32-year-old said it had been created by "big women, big brown and Black women, queer women", but they weren't benefitting from the success of it.

"We're still getting s**t on, we're still getting talked about, memed, shamed, and no one cares anymore because it's like, 'Body positivity is for everybody.' Our bodies are none of your f**king business," she fired.

"Our health is none of your f**king business. All we ask is that you keep that same energy with these medium girls that you praise. Keep the same f**king energy," the Truth Hurts singer concluded.
