'Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power': Prime Video unveils stunning full trailer

Prime Video has unveiled another trailer for its blockbuster upcoming series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power — spotlighting the beauty of its take on Middle Earth.

Set thousands of years before the events depicted in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the series will depict the history of the Second Age.

With a budget estimated at around $150m (£127m) per season, the show is expected to ultimately cost more than $1bn (£848m) — making it the most expensive TV show ever made.

The new trailer reveals numerous new locations, including the Elven realms of Lindon and Eregion, as well as focusing on well-known characters Galadriel — now played by Morfydd Clark — and Elrond (Robert Aramayo).

In the trailer, Galadriel warns Elrond that "the enemy is still out there" and further cautions him that "you have not seen what I have seen" when it comes to the threats on the way.

The series is also set to introduce the character of Isildur, who would go on to cut the One Ring off the finger of Sauron, as well as the island kingdom of Númenor.

Prime Video's official synopsis for the series reads: "Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.

"From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breath-taking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone."

Alongside the talent in front of the camera, with the likes of Lenny Henry, Peter Mullan, Nazanin Boniadi and Trystan Gravelle among the cast, Prime Video has also rolled out the big guns on the director front.

The first two episodes of the series will be helmed by JA Bayona, who was last seen in the director's chair of Jurassic World sequel Fallen Kingdom.

Although the series will aim to faithfully adapt Tolkien's writing around the Second Age, creators received the green light from the author's estate to condense the events into a shorter time period.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to debut worldwide on Prime Video from 2 September.
