While some of us may wake up with a smile on our face after a pleasant dream, one man from Edmonton had a real reason to smiling after waking up to the news that he is a $15 million Lotto Max winner.

Andrew Weninger was having a pleasant sleep in when his mother woke him up after checking the lottery ticket he purchased for the March 26 draw.

"My mom came into my room and said, 'You better get out of bed,'" Weninger said while claiming his prize at the St. Albert prize office in Alberta. "I was irritated because I was trying to sleep, but then she told me I had won $15 million... can’t really be irritated about that!"

"I think I’m still in complete disbelief."

Weninger bought his ticket at the Pleasantville Rexall Drug Store in Edmonton.

When asked what he plans to do with his winnings, Weninger said he has already spoken to a financial advisor.

"I knew early-on I would invest most of the money," he said. "But now that I’ve had some time to think about it, I have big plans!"

"I’m going to buy a house and get my dog a friend... Eventually I would like to do some travelling too, all around the world. As soon as it’s safe I’m going to start with London, England."

Weninger also plans to go back to school and buy a car.

He is the 42nd Albertan to take home a lottery prize of $1 million or more since the start 2021.
