Love Island host Laura Whitmore has thanked the finalists of this year's series, saying that they have considerably helped her following the tragic death of Caroline Flack.

The star posted a series of photos of herself alongside the finalists, and winners Finley Tapp and Paige Turley, on her Instagram page.

She added the caption: "Your Love Island Winners and finalists!! Their warmth, kindness and smiley faces helped me more than they'll ever know."

Last night's (February 23) episode featured a touching tribute to Caroline from Laura, who struggled to hold back tears as she said: "Caroline loved Love Island, she loved love, and that's why tonight's final is dedicated to her."

The producers then followed up with a montage comprised of clips from Caroline's time on the show. It followed a tribute earlier on in the week from voiceover man Iain Stirling.

Before Caroline's tragic passing, she filmed an appearance in a new satirical film starring Steve Coogan called Greed. It was released on Friday (February 21), which now makes it a posthumous release.

Love Island aired on ITV2, and you can catch up on the show via ITV Hub.
