Love, Simon stars Nick Robinson and Alexandra Shipp reunite in this exclusive clip from their new movie Silk Road, out on March 22 on digital platforms in the UK.

Inspired by real-life events, the crime thriller couldn't be further from their last movie together though as Robinson plays Ross Ulbricht, the creator of the internet's first unregulated marketplace: Silk Road.

In the clip, which you can see above, Ross has carried out a "beta test" on his marketplace by buying some drugs, leading him to have to explain why he's doing it to his girlfriend Julia (Shipp), who isn't impressed by his felony.

"I am using the internet as an instrument of liberty," he says. "The war on drugs is a farce. This is America. If you want to smoke a bowl, snort a line, pop a pill, that is your prerogative. And now, thanks to Underground Brokers, you can."

Underground Brokers was the original name of Silk Road, which was run from 2011 to 2013 by Ulbricht until his arrest by the FBI.

To go with the exclusive clip, Digital Spy can also reveal the UK artwork for the upcoming release of Silk Road.

The movie follows the rise and fall of Silk Road as well as its founder who made it into a multimillion-dollar pipeline for illicit drugs, which put Ulbricht on a collision course with DEA agent Rick Bowden (Jason Clarke).

Silk Road was written and directed by Tiller Russell, who created Netflix's Night Stalker and Amazon's The Last Narc. It's based on a Rolling Stone article by David Kushner – 'Dead End on Silk Road: Internet Crime Kingpin Ross Ulbricht's Big Fall'.

The movie also stars Paul Walter Hauser, Westworld's Jimmi Simpson, Lexi Rabe and Darrell Britt-Gibson.

Silk Road is released on digital platforms in the UK through Vertigo Releasing on March 22.
