The Dark Knight star Maggie Gyllenhaal has heaped praise on the decision to cast Robert Pattinson as Batman.

Gyllenhaal, who replaced Katie Holmes as Rachael Dawes in The Dark Knight, was recently asked by Variety about Pattinson becoming Batman, and she said that he will make a great version of the superhero becomes he is a “super compelling actor.”

“I really like him,” remarked the Oscar nominated star of Crazy Heart, who appeared alongside Christian Bale’s version of the Caped Crusader. “Yeah, so do I [think he'll be great]. I think he's a really, really good actor. I really do. I think he's a super compelling actor and I think -- I don't know, that's gonna be great.”

The reaction to Robert Pattinson’s casting as Batman has been mostly positive, while those that were dismayed by the thought of the Twilight actor playing Bruce Wayne have been pointed in the direction of his performances in Good Time and High Life as proof of his talents.

We’ll should find out who is joining Pattinson in Matt Reeves’ take on The Batman in the next few weeks, while we still have quite a while to wait for its June 25, 2021, release date.

Those of you that want to see Pattinson in action before then can see him in The Lighthouse, but even that isn’t due out until January 31, 2020.
