Maisie Williams lands next lead movie role
Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams has landed her next lead movie role.
The actor will star in Morgan Matthews' upcoming road movie 500 Miles, alongside the legendary Bill Nighy and Jojo Rabbit's Roman Griffin Davis.
Filming is expected to begin later this year in Ireland (via Screen Daily).
"[Williams] will play free-spirited street musician Kait who joins sixteen-year-old runaway Finn (Griffin Davis), on a journey across land and sea to reach Finn's estranged grandfather (Nighy), living off-the-radar on Ireland's west coast," reads the official logline for the film.

As well as directing, Matthews will also produce the film alongside former head of BBC Films David Thompson, Alex Gordon, Keren Misgav Ristvedt and Martina Niland. Zygi Kamasa is on board to executive produce.
Ahead of filming getting underway, 500 Miles has already been secured for release in a number of countries, including the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Greece and Italy.
In other news, Williams was recently announced to have joined the cast of a real-life quiz drama alongside Fallout star Walton Goggins.
Press Your Luck follows the true story of Michael Larson, who in 1984 went on the titular game show with a secret — the key to endless money, though his winning streak was threatened when executives uncovered his true motivations.

Other cast members include Jackass' Johnny Knoxville, Chicago PD's Brian Geraghty, Theater Camp's Patti Harrison and Indiana Jones' Shaunette Renée Wilson.
Williams most recently appeared in Apple TV+ series The New Look, where she played the role of Christian Dior's (Ben Mendelsohn) sister Catherine.
