Use of natural light

While electricity is essential, we tend to overuse it. Unless and until it really gets dark outside, use natural light as much as possible. Open the blinds, remove the curtains and let the room get soaked into natural light. This also helps you in saving on your electricity bills. Compost the waste

Instead of throwing away kitchen scraps and leftover food into the trash, treat them in an eco-friendly manner by turning them into compost. Being smart in kitchen can actually make your home eco-friendly. Turn on your gas to a medium range for better result, cover up your pan while cooking – these small actions will decrease the amount of heat that generates in your kitchen.

Buy recyclable products

Try and buy recycled products whenever possible. Everything from toilet tissue to kitchen roll can be of bio-degradable products. Avoid plastics as much as possible. Insist on paper bags and dump those polythene bags while you go shopping.

Check power losses

Switching off lights, fans and other appliances when not in use might look like an insignificant action but it has greater impacts. Saving power indirectly have bigger impact on CO2 emitted by power stations.
