While it might be inconceivable for any Hollywood star to turn down a superhero role in a Marvel or DC blockbuster, that's apparently exactly what Mamma Mia 2's Amanda Seyfried once did.

The actress revealed in a recent interview with MTV International that she was once approached to join one of the biggest franchises, only to turn it down because she couldn't handle the commitment.

"I turned down one once and they haven't called me back," she confessed. "It was a big one. I don't regret it. That's the truth because I didn't want to be [painted] green for six months out of every year.

"Do you know what I mean? Beautiful, beautiful stories they tell through superheroes and my daughter is really obsessed with superheroes now. Part of me wishes I had done it, and part of me is like, 'I had a life to live!'"

She went on to admit: "I don't think I would have been happy."

Seyfried's reference to being painted green seemingly tips that she was offered the role of Gamora in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, although there are many green superheroes in Marvel and DC.

It's possible that Seyfried is referring to a completely different character that was ultimately scrapped or redesigned once she rejected the role.

While Seyfried has yet to land a superhero part, there is still hope that she'll reprise her role as Sophie Sheridan in a third Mamma Mia movie sometime soon.

Earlier this year, ABBA legend Bjorn Ulvaeus hinted that the band would "look" at any ideas for another sequel if the creative team can come up with one. Here they go again!
