Manchester City are reportedly ready to offload record signing Jack Grealish in order to fund a transfer for Jude Bellingham.

City have been one of a number of sides linked with Bellingham over the past year or so. Indeed, they are joined by Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid, among others.

That some of Europe’s biggest names have registered an interest shows the quality Bellingham possesses.

What’s more, that he is in such good form at just 19 years of age shows he could be one of the world’s best for the next decade.

He has really come into his own for both club and country of late. Indeed, in 22 games at club level this season, the midfielder has been directly involved in 12 goals.

That tally includes four goals and an assist in five Champions League games. One of those goals came against potential suitors Man City, as the Citizens prevailed 2-1.

Bellingham’s form for England also highlights his special quality. He has already played 20 times for the Three Lions, despite being just 19.

His first goal for his country came in their World Cup opener, in which he put in a magnificent performance.

City ready to offload Grealish to sign Bellingham

Of late, Liverpool and Chelsea have dominated headlines surrounding a potential Bellingham transfer.

However, City are seemingly keen to make sure they have a fighting chance of snaring the midfielder themselves.

Indeed, Football Insider reports that they are ‘willing to sell’ record signing Grealish in order to fund the signing. Indeed, they would need to offload somebody, as Financial FairPlay regulations would hinder a potential snare of Bellingham if not.

City might well be able to make a decent fee from selling the forward, too. He cost them £100million from Aston Villa a couple of years ago.

What’s more, his lengthy contract, running until 2027, means City have bargaining power. While he joined with a lot of promise, of late, Grealish has not totally fulfilled that, and he has failed to ‘fully convince’ Pep Guardiola.

In 55 games for last season’s Premier League champions, he has contributed to just 11 goals. This season, he has been directly involved in just one – a goal in a league win against Wolves.

With that being said, he has still performed well at times, just without reaping the rewards in front of goal.

As such, it makes sense as to why City might want to see the back of him. Especially considering a sale could fund the signings of one of Europe’s best.

There would surely be interest in Grealish, given the promise he has shown at times in the Premier League.
