Australian actress Margot Robbie was told to ‘buy the tightest dress’ and high heels after she turned up looking too casual for her audition for the role of Naomi in ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’, she’s revealed.

The 24-year-old rising star pitched up for the reading wearing jeans and boots, but was quickly told that her attire wasn’t in-keeping with the vision for the part.

Speaking in an interview for W magazine, she said: “The casting director took one look at me and said, ‘Go down the street and buy the tightest dress and highest heels you can find. That is Naomi’.

“I came back dressed like that and read for Marty [Scorsese] and Leo.

“Those heels were killing me, which is what I remembered most.”

The change in clothing helped her secure the role of the archetypal trophy wife to crooked broker Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

It’s also the role that has thrust the former ‘Neighbours’ star into the spotlight.

Only her fourth film role, she’s since shot ‘Focus’ with Will Smith – out next year – and is appearing in the forthcoming adaptation of ‘Z For Zachariah with Chiwetel Ejiofor.

After that, it’s playing Jane in the ‘Tarzan’ remake, being directed by Harry Potter’s David Yates and starring Alexander Skarsgard and Christophe Waltz.

She’s also reportedly set to play Harley Quinn, the henchwoman/girlfriend to The Joker, in the forthcoming DC Comics movie ‘Suicide Squad’ due out in 2016.
