Margot Robbie's asymmetrical messy bun at the Critics' Choice Awards is so easy to copy

Margot Robbie wore our favorite kind of red carpet beauty look to the Critics’ Choice Awards: a look that we can copy.

She took a perfectly imperfect topknot to the next level with a chic black velvet ribbon. The ribbon complemented her striped, frilly Chanel dress, but even if you don’t have a Chanel gown in the closet at home, a simple ribbon can add a little oomph to your ensemble.

The hairstyle is especially fitting for Robbie, who took home the award for Best Actress in a Comedy for her role in I, Tonya. Robbie has clearly drawn inspiration from figure skating style, even taking her custom-made scrunchies home from the film set. This style could work just as easily on the ice as on the red carpet: Just imagine the drama of this single ribbon twirling through a triple axel.

TRESemmé stylist Bryce Scarlett based Robbie’s look on her gown, he said in a release. “The whole look was inspired by the fact that Margot was wearing Chanel, and for hair and makeup we were trying to emulate a classic Chanel aesthetic,” he explained.

As she gears up for a possible Oscar nod, Robbie has made sure her red carpet style this season is flawless. Get ready to screenshot these hair looks for your next big event.
