Mark Hamill remembers Carrie Fisher on her 64th birthday: 'The world will never stop missing you'

Mark Hamill has paid tribute to his late Star Wars co-star Carrie Fisher on what would have been her 64th birthday.

On Wednesday, the actor shared a photo of himself and the actress, who died in 2016 at the age of 60, on Twitter.

In the photo, Hamill can be seen leaning in to kiss Fisher as she smiles.

“Happy birthday Carrie Frances Fisher,” the 69-year-old wrote. “The world will never stop missing you…”

This is not the first time Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the films, has publicly remembered Fisher, who played his on-screen sister Princess Leia.

In 2018, before filming for Star Wars: Episode IX began, Hamill reflected on what it would be like returning to set without his co-star.

“It's bittersweet facing my final chapter without her - she is simply irreplaceable. I'm finding solace in the fact that she won't BE replaced & would love the worldwide outpouring of affection from those who loved her when they heard the news,” the actor wrote, adding the hashtag #CarrieOnForever.

The post also included photos of Hamill and Fisher, including one of them on the set of their final Star Wars movie together, as well as a photo of the film’s on-screen dedication to Fisher, which read: “In memory of our princess, Carrie Fisher.”

In addition to Hamill, hundreds of fans have also remembered Fisher on her birthday and shared what the actress meant to them.

“Happy birthday to Carrie Fisher. Our princess and general would’ve turned 64 years old today. To quote Luke, ‘No one’s ever really gone,’” one person tweeted.

Another said: “Happy 64th birthday to the brightest star in the sky, the one and only Carrie Fisher. Thank you for speaking out your mind and being an immense inspiration to so many people, for teaching us to be our own heroes and to not be afraid of who we are.”

The official Star Wars Twitter account also paid tribute to the late star, sharing a photo of her dressed as Princess Leia with the caption: “We’re remembering our courageous princess, the iconic Carrie Fisher on her birthday.”

Fisher died in 2016 days after suffering a heart attack while flying from London to Los Angeles.
