Married At First Sight have removed contestant Nikita Jasmine from the show.

A spokesperson for the E4 programme said Nikita had left over "unacceptable" behaviour.

In a statement, they said: "The wellbeing of cast and crew is our utmost priority at all times throughout production and beyond.

"During filming, a situation escalated off camera and Nikita displayed a level of aggression that was unacceptable and breached our agreed code of conduct on behaviour.

"As a result, she was asked to leave the experiment. All involved have been offered support and Nikita has since apologised and resolved the situation with those involved."

Nikita has had a number of on-camera dramatic moments after marrying Ant on the show.

In a preview clip, she was seen threatening to quit the programme as the newlyweds met up at the first dinner party after their honeymoons.

She later responded, telling cameras: "Can I just say, think before you speak, because for all you haters, me and Ant did have a lush honeymoon apart from that one day.

"But the rest of the eight, nine days we were there were wicked. So all of yous with hate, f**k yous all!"

The new series of Married at First Sight premiered last month, with eight couples meeting face-to-face for the very first time at the altar.

In a series first, a gay couple was finally introduced on Married at First Sight since the UK show started airing in 2015.

Daniel, 27, explained: "It's amazing to be one half of the first gay couple [on the show].

"Gay marriage has only been legalised very recently in Northern Ireland which is absolutely shocking. And now that I can share my relationship with the world, I find that so important."

His groom Matt spoke of his coming out experience, saying: "When I started to tell people, and kind of realised who I was, I kind of became the person that I am now. Like really strong and confident."
