‘Married’s Kimiko Glenn Joins ‘Nerve'; Kino Lorber Acquires ‘Gueros’

Kimiko Glenn, who has a recurring role on FX’s Married and appears in the Netflix hit Orange Is The New Black, has joined the Lionsgate feature Nerve, co-starring with Emma Roberts ​​and Dave Franco. Glenn plays the worried friend of a high school senior (Roberts) who’s enmeshed in an increasingly dangerous online game of dare. The project is directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman and produced by Allison Shearmur (Cinderalla). Her Orange Is The New Black character is Brook Soso, a naive but principled inmate; in Married, whose season 2 debuts this summer, she plays Miranda, the assistant of series star Nat Faxon’s character whose wife is played by Judy Greer. Glenn is also set to star this summer in Encore’s Wild Party directed by Leigh Silverman. Glenn is repped by Global Creative|Station 3 and the Don Buchwald Agency.

Kino Lorber has picked up North American distribution rights to Gueros, a comedy set in 1999 about three teens who, during a student strike, kill time searching for folk-rocker Epigmenio Cruz on the streets of Mexico City. Written, directed and produced by Alonso Ruizpalacios, the black-and-white feature took the best first film award at the 2014 Berlin Film Festival. Gueros also won three awards at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival including Best New Narrative Director. More recently Gueros garnered a dozen Ariel Award nominations. Ruizpalacios’ 2010 short El último canto del pájaro cú won an Ariel for Best Short Fiction Film. Kino Lorber will debut the movie at New York’s Film Forum on May 20, with additional key markets and digital platforms to follow.
