It wasn’t just The Simpsons that joked about a Donald Trump presidency.

Uncovered from the annals of the internet (courtesy of Den of Geek) is an early draft of the movie ‘Mars Attacks!’, which also posits what was presumably then a rather unlikely eventuality.

It was the British writer and director Alex Cox, of ‘Repo Man’ fame, who was originally penning the script for Tim Burton.

And the prediction/gag was made in an off-hand scene direction, as seen here:

Cox’s script was never used – despite getting a re-rub by novelist Martin Amis – but the project was revived and made it to the screen in 1996, with an all-star cast including Jack Nicholson, Pierce Brosnan, Glenn Close and Danny DeVito.

Now going somewhat viral, the prediction ‘The Simpsons’ made of a Donald Trump presidency is also doing the rounds following last night’s shock result.

In the episode ‘Bart To The Future’, Lisa is seen taking over a disastrous Trump administration, and that was broadcast in 2000.

Trump first mooted a potential run for the presidency back in the 80s, so clearly it entered the creative consciousness as far back as then.
