Martin Starr Joins Spider-Man: Homecoming

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ adds ‘Silicon Valley’ actor, Martin Starr.

According to Deadline, the 33-year-old actor will join the upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ reboot, opposite new Spidey, Tom Holland.

“Silicon Valley star Martin Starr is joining the burgeoning cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the Jon Watts-directed pic from Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios,” they revealed.

Of course, Martin Starr is best known for the role of Bertram Gilfoyle in the HBO series, ‘Silicon Valley’. He also starred in the NBC comedy-drama, ‘Freaks and Geeks’.

But Starr is no stranger to the big screen, either… and has appeared in ‘This Is The End’ as well as ‘Adventureland’, ‘Superbad’ and ‘Knocked Up’.

He’s even had a brief stint in a Marvel movie, appearing as computer nerd Amadeus Cho in the Edward Norton version of ‘The Incredible Hulk’.

But who will he be playing in the ‘Spider-Man’ reboot?

At the moment, that remains under wraps… but considering his frequent roles on the geekier spectrum, it’s thought that he could be playing some kind of tech geek.

Who that might be, remains to be seen.

It’s thought that ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ may be loosely based on the ‘Homecoming’ storyline of the comic books… with the homecoming aspect after Spidey’s return home after the events of ‘Civil War’.

And that could include some rather super cameos.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ stars Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man, with Marissa Tomei, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, Zendaya and Michael Keaton. Robert Downey Jr will return as Iron Man himself, Tony Stark.

Jon Watts will direct, based on a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ heads to cinemas on 28 July 2017.
