Spider-Man alum Dane DeHaan has said there is “no truth” to the rumours that he will star in Spider-Man 3.

The actor famously portrayed Harry Osborn aka Green Goblin opposite Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

In a new interview with Radio Times, he responded to the speculation stating: “There’s no truth to those rumours. I don’t even know how that would be pulled off.

“I have no idea what they’re doing with the Spider-Man movies now, but I don’t really understand a world in which that would be possible.”

Rumours surrounding DeHaan’s return began after it was revealed that his co-star Jamie Foxx would be reprising his role as Electro in the forthcoming film, and that Alfred Molina (who starred as Doctor Octopus in 2004’s Spider -Man 2) would also be joining the sequel.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that past incarnations of the titular superhero played by Garfield and Tobey Maguire could also make an appearance in the movie, which features characters from previous eras of the franchise.

The 34-year-old added that he would “certainly love to make some kind of movie like that again”.

“I like making superhero movies or in that kind of world and I’m sure I’ll find myself in that world again,” said the Kill Your Darlings actor.

DeHaan has since shared a link to his denial of the rumours on Twitter accompanied by the caption: “Will someone please tell my mom so she can stop asking about this.”

He is next set to star opposite Black Mirror’s Andrea Riseborough in Sky Atlantic’s forthcoming crime series ZeroZeroZero.

The show – which focuses on drug cartels in South America and Europe – will be available to view on NOW TV from 14 February.
