Marvel announce Captain America: The Winter Soldier prequel comic

Captain America: Homecoming will be set before the superhero sequel.

Marvel are set to launch a prequel comic ahead of the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Archer & Armstrong writer Fred Van Lente and veteran artist Tom Grummett have collaborated on the Captain America: Homecoming one-shot.

Set between the events of 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger and its upcoming sequel, the story will see Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) take S.H.I.E.L.D agent Natasha Romanoff (Scarlet Johansson) to the Brooklyn neighbourhood where he grew up.

"A lot has changed there since Steve was a kid in the 1930s, but the walk down memory lane is interrupted when a terrorist strike happens while they're there," Van Lente told Newsarama.

"The question of whether it happens because they were there or not is a question readers will have to wait until they read the issue to find out."

Anthony and Joe Russo's superhero sequel, due to hit cinemas on March 28th, will see Cap continue to struggle with living in a modern world two years after the events of Avengers Assemble. But he soon finds himself needing help from Johansson's Black Widow and new ally the Falcon (Anthony Mackie) to face off against a powerful enemy, and a blast from the past.
