Marvel Studios has got movies planned ahead all the way to 2021.

President of production Kevin Feige says that he could – but won't – reveal the blossoming studio's plans all the way into the next decade.

Speaking to Wired, he said: “I could arguably say what we’re planning for the year 2021. Will that happen? I don’t know. But what we planned for 2015 in 2006 is happening.

“Five years ago, looking at our plan, we knew that if 'Avengers' was going to work, the movies had to stand alone.

“Now we have to prove to the studio that we’re more than just these five characters, these five franchises.”

Such talk will, of course, lead to widespread speculation over which Marvel characters could be heading to the big screen in the future.

On the roster so far are 'Thor: The Dark World' due on November 8, 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' on April 4, 2014, 'Guardians of the Galaxy' on August 1, 2014, 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' on May 1, 2014, and Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man' on November 6, 2015.

There are also films slated, but unannounced, for May 6, 2016, July 8, 2016, and May 5, 2017.

It's thought that the long-planned 'Doctor Strange' movie will be among them, and perhaps a new stand-alone 'Hulk' movie.

But perhaps most interestingly, he added that Disney, the studio that owns Marvel, gives his crew a remarkable free reign, considering the billions of dollars they have brought in.

“Disney has allowed us to be a relatively small, tight-knit brain trust,” he said.

“These billion-dollar ventures come down to 10 people or fewer in a room saying, ‘You know what would be cool?’”
