Mary Elizabeth Winstead Teases Over 10 Cloverfield Lane

As much as ‘10 Clovefield Lane’ has been shrouded in mystery, the J.J. Abrams project is gradually revealing more and more, starting with its star Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

The actress, interviewed at the EW SAG’s Award party, said: “There is this veil of secrecy to it from the very beginning,” she teased.

“We were making this movie in this little bubble where nobody else knew what we were doing and there’s really only three actors in the whole thing, so it kind of felt like this really intimate experience,” she shared. “Now that it’s about to come out, it’s sort of crazy — like, ‘Oh yeah, people are excited to see this movie.’ I forgot that that was going to happen.”

Aside from Winstead, she’s only joined on-screen by two other actors: the legendary John Goodman and ‘Short Term 12′s’ John Gallagher Jr.

“It’s so much about just the actors interacting with each other and that tension that builds, just all wondering if they are who they say the are, if they’re telling the truth or not, and really wondering what’s outside,” which makes the trailer all the more interesting to see because not only was it sprung upon us, but it keeps you guessing about virtually everything.

“We always have the script. We know where it’s all leading to,” she revealed to EW. “As production went on there were rewrites, as there usually are, but nothing that was major. It was always something that I knew we weren’t going to be able to talk about until people saw the movie.”

To her credit she’s kept anything big under wraps by whetting our appetites just that little bit more.

‘10 Cloverfield Lane’ is in UK cinemas from 8 April, 2016.
