Matchroom prospect Maisey Rose Courtney reveals why Katie Taylor is the greatest of all time
Flyweight contender Maisey Rose Courtney believes Katie Taylor is the greatest female boxer of all time.
Courtney will take on Kate Radomska on May 20 on the undercard of Taylor's homecoming bout with Chantelle Cameron in Dublin.
This will be Courtney's third professional bout, and second on the undercard of the Irish superstar.
When asked whether Taylor is the greatest female boxer in history, Courtney told Planet Sport: "At the minute, yeah. Hundred percent. She's paved the way, she's made it achievable for women to reach what she's done.
"Before that there was no one out there really that did anywhere near what she's done."
Courtney made her professional debut last October when beating Judit Hachbold on the undercard of Taylor vs Karen Elizabeth Carabajal.
"To be on another Katie Taylor card is huge," added Courtney. "To be on the card where she's called someone out, where she's not done that before as well, against someone who's also under Matchroom, it's massive."
Taylor, who is 22-0, will fight in Ireland for the very first time in her professional career. The 36-year-old will square off with Cameron who also boasts an unbeaten record of 17-0.
When asked about the main event, Courtney said: "I don't know, it's a real tough one. Whenever someone asks me, I can't really pick and choose because I don't know.
"If Katie Taylor loses in Ireland, that's heart-breaking. But then, Cameron is an English girl. I'm on the fence."
Taylor made history in 2022 when she defeated Amanda Serrano in the first ever female boxing bout to headline Madison Square Garden.
While Courtney would love to see a rematch between Taylor and Serrano, she would like to see that fight contested over ten three-minute rounds.
She said: "I do think it should happen again, but I think if it is to happen again, it should be three minutes. Even if it's ten x three.
"There were a few times in the rounds where both of the girls were hurt. Imagine if that was a three-minute round, it would have ended a different way.
"Ten three-minute rounds if it does happen again. That would be wicked."
Fans can catch both Taylor and Courtney's fights live on DAZN on May 20.
